Former Los Angeles City Councilmember and City Controller Laura Chick Endorses Tim Gaspar

Woodland Hills, CA – Today, former Los Angeles City Councilmember and City Controller Laura Chick announced her endorsement of Tim Gaspar for Los Angeles City Council District 3, adding the support of one of the district’s most respected former officeholders to Gaspar’s growing list of backers.

Chick represented CD3 from 1993 to 2001 before being elected City Controller, where she served two terms. Known for her advocacy on transparency, accountability, and neighborhood-focused leadership, she brings decades of civic experience to her endorsement.

“Los Angeles is a city in crisis,” said Chick. “We need a new generation of leadership that puts neighborhoods before politics and focuses on fixing what’s broken—basic services, public safety, transparency, and accountability. Tim Gaspar is a serious, capable, and committed problem-solver who understands that City Hall must work for the people. He’s exactly the kind of leader LA needs right now, and I’m proud to enthusiastically endorse him for City Council.”

Candidate Contributions (through 6/30/25)

Gaspar, a small business owner and lifelong West Valley resident, launched his campaign with the exclusive backing of current CD3 Councilmember Bob Blumenfield and has since added endorsements from Councilmembers John Lee and Tim McOsker, Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, former State Senator Steven Bradford, IBEW Local 40, and more than 100 civic, business, and community leaders from across the district.

“Laura Chick has set the standard for what effective leadership in CD3 looks like,” said Gaspar. “Her work on behalf of our neighborhoods and her commitment to accountability at City Hall is exactly what inspired me to run. I’m honored to have her support and look forward to building on her legacy of results-driven leadership.”

With strong fundraising totals, more than 100 endorsements, and a rapidly expanding grassroots network, Gaspar’s campaign continues to gain momentum as one of the most competitive in the city.
